Yes, and if I recall correctly, a sign is only required if the property isn't inhabited or improved. It's always trespassing to walk up in someone's driveway or in their yard.

OP, a bear kicked over my trash can a few days ago here in Colorado Springs. Let me know if you come up with a good solution lol.

I don't think "No trespassing" sign will stop her. She is a neighbor, and this is a petty issue. No police or courthouse would bother.
Apply a lock.
End of story.

Check Amazon for ideas. Plenty of trash bin locks there:

True, but not sure how worthwhile a lawsuit would be in this case

I've seen many dog walkers do this. When their dog poops on a walk they pick it up, bag it, and then just drop it in the closest trash can along their route. I guess they are assuming that it doesn't take much room and all goes to the same place anyway.

If a garbage/trash can is left at the curb, it's fair game. People will throw garbage/trash in it, be it dog's number 2 or empty beer or coke cans. A garbage/trash can at the curb in a way is public property, since the curb is owned by the city and people can go through the garbage/trash can looking for whatever they're hoping to find.

So, if both my and my neighbor's trash is on the curb, post garbage pick up, I can dump my pet waste into their trash?

Well, in this case, she lives next door and OP specifically asked her to stop.

Well, I see it as an actually great habit. It's much better to throw such trash into someone's garbage bin than on someone's lawn, or walkway, no?
If one expects dog owners to continue walking or jogging with their dog poop in their hand, then they will just leave it be instead of picking up after their dogs.

There are not enough city garbage cans for pedestrians to use. And pretty much none in suburban neighborhoods.
