Default Frisco area

I remember Frisco about 10 years ago when it was still a pop. of about 6,000.
Preston Rd. from 121 North had around 5 restaurants, one old Ford dealership, and a Brookshires off 289 @ 740?
I attended CCCC Frisco campus then and our Econ. professor said that in 5 years, this city will not look the same. We all laughed because it just didn't make sense at the time. Well, fast forward 5 years later, and it looked completely different!
My mom moved into a home there around that time from Carrollton and she really enjoys the area. Her part of town (Stonebrook and Preston Rd.) is still a good area and the homes are about 7-8 years old now.
She sometimes keeps up on the crime issues there, and says that the majority of it tends to surface around Main St. and directly north of town, where the homes are older, and there are some illegals present. Overall, it's a great city, but I personally would go for a smaller town with more character.

"Hope the above sentence wasn't hijaking"

I am planning to build a home from scratch in east side of Preston (on Eldorado). What are the key items I need to keep in mind when do the final negotiation? How to find out whether there was any foundation problem in that area or not?
Anyone have any other kind of suggestion at this time?

Ain't that the truth! We rented in Frisco around 1998 and that was shortly before Stonebriar opened (I think it opened in 2000). I remember everyone talking about the new mall, the new mall, the new mall and I kept thinking "where?" because I had not seen it. The city is so different in just our short time from then and now. I don't recognize 121 from Alma towards Preston now that much at all.

Also the schools seem to be overrated (could it be because they are new?).
The increase in crime were mostly related to car burglaries. I live in Frisco and love it! The city planners have done a great job. Schools are built as the city grows beginning with elementary schools through high schools. By 2009, there will be 6 high schools in Frisco. There is a plan to build a "grand park" in the heart of town by the city hall. There are sports entertainment venues year round (double-A baseball, minor league hockey, arena football, and soccer (FC Dallas). The traffic that everyone talks about is temporary but once the roads are completely built, it will be just fine.

The schools are great! A friend of mine recently transferred his middle school children from a private school to Frisco ISD schools and he hasn't regretted it with the quality of education his children are getting.

Unless you live in Frisco, your opinion is just that based on what you read. Most Frisco residents love it here. I bought my first home in Frisco and when I sold it, I decided to buy my next house in Frisco after looking at other cities.

Read up on the city planning at http://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/departments/Planning_Development/index.aspx?id=1278 (broken link). Frisco is the first city in the U.S. to establish "green building" standards.

Frisco is better than Plano for sure. But if he's working in Arlington, I would look at Grapevine or Euless Frisco commute would suck!
