I pick up D from time to time, and it is very stuck up/snobby. I remember they bashed town east mall ounce because they seen too many late model cars and and outdated fashions on the customers. D just stinks, they act like if you aren't a parkie or from west plano that you are scum of the earth.

What is the deal with Dallas publications. D magazine is horrible, and the Morning News is going downhill. I just got a sales call from them saying "Have you seen the new paper? Bigger margins, shorter stories, and you can fold it over and fit in your pocket." Ummm all the reasons I don't want it right there.

SO true!!! D magazine is such a joke.

the problem is that people/companies who own newspapers don't actually read them for knowledge (like my husband and I who are LONG-TIME newspaper readers)

if they did they would realize why their revenues are dropping and advertisers are pulling out...there is little meaningful, insightful news about local or national news--
papers have become "marketing" tools for the media companies that own them and stories usually ignore significant issues or have slanted POV--
we still take the FTW paper but so much of it is really just rant...
and the fact that both newspapers are ignoring what is going on with the Enron Loophole issue in Congress--and the two candidates POVs about it--is MEGA omissions--

just like they have totally different reactions to flooding in Corn Belt and Gulf Coast--
