Boomtown. They have non-smoking areas, and the smoking areas are less smokey than the other casinos. The hotel is nice, nothing over the top like Vegas, but still nice. Their steakhouse is excellent, great service, great food. And they're really good with their comps. We get free rooms and free meals at the steakhouse all the time.

The Horseshoe is the closest one to a Vegas style place... but a lot of the people seem a little too pretentious for me. Sams Town was the worst for smoke... it was just a big cloud.

My goes a lot more than me but I like Boomtown also because of the comps. It's not a top notch hotel but it's clean and fun.

have only been once--went to the casino at the racetrack because the friend we were staying with had coupons for free play--was not that impressed with it
the buffet had lot of food but was not that well cooked--we ate Saturday lunch--
it was smoky...
wish we would have tried some of the others
she lives in Shreveport and goes every once in a while--she liked Harrah's

I just came back from Shreveport about a two months ago, and stayed at Sam's Town.

It was ehhhhh. We were on a business trip, so I didn't mind so much, but I had the chance to spend 30 minutes at Boomtown, and said: "mental note to self: If i'm ever in Shreveport ever again, make sure I stay in Boomtown."

It's not quite Vegas quality, but was head and shoulders above Sam's Town.

We went in 2004 and won't be back... Compared to Vegas, they all are YUCKY! Very unfavorable blackjack house rules, and VERY smoky. Twice we caught the dealer paying the blackjack tables incorrectly!

The only one I ever really liked was the Hollywood, but it closed. I think its Sams Town now and I haven't been in there since the switch. We went to Boomtown in April for a friend's birthday (their request). It was smoky and the food at the buffet was disgusting. After that, we weren't willing to try the steakhouse there...ate elsewhere the rest of the stay... but hopefully it is better than their buffet. I certainly couldn't be worse.

we used to live in Shreveport before the casinos came in
my husband goes back for business 4-5 times a year and has been to casinos to eat mainly because he does not win and does not see point in wasting his money

I think the payouts are not that good in Shreveport--there is just not the same amount of traffic to offset losses--so they cut the winners pretty thinkly--and the type of customer is also different--plenty of senior citizens and people who really look like they should not be playing in casinos--not very upscale with clientel as well as decor...
but it is closer than Vegas--and there are some good restaurants in Shreveport that aren't in the casinos--
we love Strawn's for the strawberry pie and hamburgers--just a local place
and Ernest's is still open and doing good food
Monjunis for Italian
Herby-K's for poorboys--

We like to stay at Sams Town. We like the buffet at Horseshoe. We like to gamble at Boomtown. Now that we live in E Texas we've been 3 times in the last year and have come home winners every single time. We're not big gamblers either. We take our 100.00 bill and when we lose it we're done. The smoke is a problem. I have a saying ....if I smell like smoke...I better have been in a casino!
