Finding a job is a full time job in itself. Just faxing and e-mailing resumes is the bare minimum and is the same thing everyone is doing. You'll never differentiate yourself by doing that. Go to the offices, drop off the resume in person and request to hand it directly to the person who is in charge. Get in their face and introduce yourself. Get to job fares and get in front of these people. Are you a graduate of a local university? If so, use them!!!!! Get references from them and contact these people for more doors to open.

I actually had a 15 minute phone interview with the lady describing what I do and credentials and education level, I spent time asking her questions and listening to what she needed etc. Then later I confirmed the interview by email, but when I got to her house to do (a Free lance work interview) she kept saying she doesn't do interviews and doesn't know what to ask me..which I thought was very rude...she pretended to not even remember me, surely she would have remembered most of the information I gave to her over the phone.....

lol good luck with that. Half the time I walk into an HR office the guy who makes the hiring decisions is busy and if you don't have an interview scheduled or an appointment you can't talk to him. That is for bigger companies at least.

2-3 weeks is how long it takes to find a new job, assuming you have marketable skills and a decent work history.

You could consider going back to school as well.

Look at it this way: You should have left a great impression with her that she might recommend you to someone else looking for your qualifications. She might not be able to hire you now, but you never know who she knows that might be looking for someone of your qualifications in the future.

lol yup and from my experience companies prefer you just send an e-mail resume to apply to the job. Which makes a lot of sense. No need to have the job hunters constantly calling the office to check interview status. With an e-mail system all you do is browse through the resumes, pick the best ones to interview then either delete the ones who were not selected or BCC a reply to all those e-mails with, "sorry we selected another candidate for the position. Thank you for applying. etc"

The only places where they accept walk ins is for low end jobs that anyone can do. All the jobs that require specific skills/education/experience are all posted online.

I would agree... don't be offended by those asking you to post your profession and abilities on here. You might feel a little guarded to post specifics, but I've found more information in the last 2 days, than I could by myself in a MONTH. Use this forum to cast out a net. Possibly someone could offer useful advice.
Keep a stiff upper lip about the actions of others-- especially self-absorbed ones. The interviewer must have felt extremely uncomfortable and a little off-balance. While it was not your place to make them feel comfortable during the interview, (which seemed a little unprofessional) they were obviously too obsorbed with the complexity of the situation, and did not know standard protocol. You will always be disappointed in those types, and disappointment affects YOUR attitude.
Good Luck in your endeavors.

Thanks for the support everyone. It sure is really discouraging out there.

so far I have skills and good education but limited experiences...
I've got some pretty good entry level interviews lined up but later found out it was too far a drive to commute for most of the interviews. So I'm clearly interesting to employers and that is a good sign!
