I have been on a mission for an upscale, high energy southern city! So far nothing has turned up promising , as far as the info. I have so far gotten! Dallas, Charleston, Montgomery and Nashville were on the list. I have never spent much time in either and am bascially looking for a flashy/classy city in the south that can somewhat keep up with LA/Miami socially. Any input or suggestions? Atlanta was recommended, but that was a dissapointing for me and a little too 'urban/ghetto' for my personal taste.

thanks anyone

Why not just go to Miami or L.A. then?

That is an excellent question.

If the nightlife of LA or Miami Beach appeals to you, what are the reasons that keep you from there? What shortcomings of LA or Miami does your hypothetical city need to address?

As a major metro with over 6 million people, DFW has the population base to support a lot of nightlfe. I don't know any objective way to describe the difference between Dallas' nightlife and, say, Miami's, other than observing different styles of music, dress, etc.

This question is no intended to challenge you, but to invite you to clarify and better understand your real issues. The better you can describe them in writing, the better you understand them.

The most drastic difference I found from living on South Beach in the early 90s to moving to Dallas is that the clubs/bars in Dallas close at 2am vs. 5am in Miami.

Flashy and classy don't really mix. However, you can find both in Dallas.

The nightlife has spread out quite a bit in DFW. A lot of new clubs have opened in the suburbs as well as outside of Deep Ellum but still in Dallas.
