Hi there - I noticed that in the Dallas area you have a choice on your utilities- I was wondering who you selected and why? The prices seem to be the same - what about service?
Thank you in advance!

Depends on the utilities. In Plano your only choice for gas is Atmos. Phone service is Verizon. Traditional cable is provided by Time Warner. The good news is that Verizon can provide fiber optic service so they can offer phone, internet and TV. Time Warner can do the same thing using their cable so you can choose between them and pick a bundle. Personally I have Verizon and can't think of a reason to switch to Time Warner - I've had bad customer service experiences with them in the past.

You do get to pick your electric company, much like you can in most of Texas. The lines are all serviced by TXU so the only differences are price and customer service. Go to Power to Choose to compare rates. I have Gexa and really like it. Never had a problem with billing or service and I like that they have renewable options for a comparatively low rate.

The rest of the things like water, trash and sewage are all handled through the city and will come on one bill monthly from the city.

I have phone, cable and high speed internet through Time Warner because they were offering all three bundle for $99 a month.

I have Green Mountain Energy for my electric (don't have gas) and although my rate varies, I've only had one "high" bill, so fingers crossed I will be staying with them for now.

I also have TWC, but would just about kill someone to get Verizon.

There are multiple choice for electricity. I recently switched from Bounce to Mission Power. There is quite a bit of spread in rate choice. I just went from ¢10.8/Kwh to ¢8.6/Kwh. That will make a difference of roughly $100/mo on my bill. That's quite a bit of difference to me.

I have StarTex Power had no issues so far, had to talk to customer service few times did not face any delay or problem in getting to them. For rest of the needs I have Verizon FIOS works great did not have good experience with their customer service few times but still think that is the best I could find.
