Greetings all..
Will be moving to the DFW area real soon and of course going to need to find some housing. We like country living on 2-5 acres. A place for our dogs to run and a place for a RV. What time we have been to Texas we have spent south off of 35W. Burleson and Mansfield. Nice place but a little to congested. Also visited Granbury and it was nice and really growing.

We have heard Caddo Mills and Quillian are smaller and more on the country side. Is that true? How are the schools there? The eastern side of Dallas looks nice. How are resales in the area going?

Hubby is accustomed to about an hour drive to work. He will be commuting to Arlington. Will Caddo Mills and Quillian be in close in the drive time? He does not work regular hours and is always against traffic so rush hour does not pertain to him. We lived an hour north of Atlanta and he always commuted about an hour/hour 10 minutes to his old job. Traffic is traffic no matter where you go just a lot thicker at peak times.

Love all the information everyone is sharing here. I am a book of knowledge on Georgia if anyone needs tips....
Thanks for anything anyone can share.....

The commute from Quinlan to Arlington would be WELL over an hour. Yes, it is more rural for sure and I would not call it growing at a fast pace AT ALL! Although the new Walmart recently opened there (sure hope that does not close down the Brookshires ). You do have Lake Tawakoni right there and could get something on the lake but that commute would get REALLY old really fast. Rockwall, Royce City, McClendon-Chisholm would all put you at least 30 minutes closer than Quinlan and could possibly be done in an hour commute depending on traffic and roadwork. You can also find acreage in those areas and still be on the east side though this area is growing but since homes/lots tend to be larger and more acreage then it would not be as congested as the other areas you mentioned. The resale in these areas would be MUCH better than Quinlan or Caddo Mills.

We checked out Caddo, Quillian, Terrell, and Royse City.
All was a no except for Royse City. You were right on the money with Caddo and Quillian. Got dark on us so we hope to go explore Royse City some more tomorrow. What else can you recommend we take a peak at?

Well, first it's Quinlan and you call "Caddo" by the full name, Caddo Mills. (Same would apply to Royce City). So you went driving around the area yesterday? GREAT! Great weather for it and more for the week .

Check in Royce City, just follow all of the subdivision signs. Some are just regular subdivisions while others have acreage. Some friends live on the south side of 30 on 2 acres in a fairly new subdivision (he also has to commute to Ft Worth many times a week and they both have to drive into Dallas just about everyday). I want to say the name of the area is Sterling Farms??? Fate is another option which is just east of Rockwall but closer than Royce City and not right on the highway either. Did you travel any on 205 or 276? On 205 from Rockwall to Terrell you go thru the area called McClendon-Chisholm and there are many areas all thru there being developed w/ acreage. Heath would be a no-go as there are not as many acreage lots thru that area. In the Rockwall area look up off 549 and 552 (north of I30). You'll find lots of acreage all in that area and easy to get to the interstate from there.

Good luck and if your out in the Rockwall area for lunch ask a local where Boots Burgers is and GO!!!!!!!!!! You will NOT regret it.
