Please help me. My husband and I will be moving to this area in the beginning of March. I need a safe affordable apartment and have two cockatiels. I have been going back and forth with the listings and the rating sites and wonder if between $650 to $750 a month is too low a rent. Also, since we will be house hunting, I don't want to sign up for a long lease like a year etc. Eager to come to Texas.

Thank you,
Bird Lover

For a one bedroom? If that is the case that rate sounds about right. When we lived in an apartment in that area (2004) it was 500$ a month for a teeny one bedroom in a pretty decent area right off the Dallas North Tollway.

Momof2 will give you the low down on Garland...hopefully. I used to look at Plano b4 I moved here and the nicer apts in the nicest areas was a bit higher than your price range.

The best apartments in Garland are along 190 in the Firewheel area. As for which ones will take birds................ I have no idea. I'd try:
Seven Oaks - located off of 190 at Campbell
Stoneleigh on Spring Creek - located on Naaman Forest Blvd & N. Garland Ave just a block from 190.
Parkside at Firewheel - the newest and located at the mall My teen wants to live here........ lol.

Then around Renner and 190 in Richardson there are some apartments but I don't know much about those. Some newer ones that look nicer than these are located on N. Garland Ave (aka Northstar) at Renner. These are across from Kung Pow (good Chinese), Jay's Donuts (GREAT donuts ) and Hungry Howie's Pizza (AWESOME wings).

Also, over on Renner and 75 are some nice apartments that some friends lived in short term while their house was getting renovated.

Thanks, still searching, I have a few possibilities. I e-mailed them but haven't heard back so will try the ones that you have listed.
