Hi, my fiance and I are looking to move Dallas this summer and we are looking for a newer home in the North Dallas. We will be starting a family in the near future so we are wanting a home within a very good school district. We are looking in the 225,000-275,000 range. Or any good builders would be great!

It sounds to me your looking for something in the northern burbs not north Dallas proper. Were will you job be located and what kind of commute are you willing to have. Need a litte more info to give advice. I will say the northern burbs have great schools but they can be very competitive. This may or may not be a issue for you.

if you don't know where you are going to be working then you are just assimilating a lot of background info--
Dallas is such a large area that you can't just pick someplace to live without any consideration for where you both will be working...

Only my fiance will be working and his company has an office downtown and near Love Field. We would like to live in the North suburbs possibly Frisco, Plano or McKinney. As for schools, it is important to us that we live in a school district that can provide the best education for our children when we have them in the near future.

If your fiance is working downtown or near Love Field................ don't do McKinney unless you don't want to see him often. Frisco can be just as bad. There is no need to be in the far NORTHERN burbs just to get a nice house in a nice area w/ great schools. You can live much closer in and get all of that and your fiance not have traffic woes everyday as well as wear and tear on his vehicle and higher gas expenses. Unless you are just dead set that you MUST have a brand new house............ look much closer in. The southern end of Plano and then Richardson. All MUCH CLOSER and great areas w/ great schools. You might be able to find a newer home in some areas of Richardson that are closer in that is in an established area where someone has torn down the older house and rebuilt. MANY do this as they love the area, the schools and the proximity to downtown Dallas (if that is where they work).

I agree with Mom. A commute from the far northern burbs would be brutal. Stick to Plano/Richardson/Lake Highlands areas. I live in Lake Highlands and really love it. If you want more info on the area, feel free to send me a private message.
