Hi All,

My wife, 3 month old daughter and I currently live in an apartment in Arlington near the Parks mall. We are now faced with the question finding the best place to live and raise a family. Most importantly, we are looking for a great school district, safe neighborhoods, central and convenient to Dallas and Ft. Worth. Our budget is from 200K - 250K for a modest home. Any suggestions?.

Southlake, Colleyville and Grapevine fit your description, but are probably out of your budget. You may want to take a look at Keller. You may find something there in your price range.

There are PLENTY of houses in Grapevine between $200 and $250!! (I bought one in December and we LOVE our neighborhood!) South Grapevine is more desirable, and if you can get into the area east of 121 and south of 114, that is the BEST part. But houses there sell very quickly, even in this market, so you will need a good realtor. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is very well-regarded and many people move here for the schools.

Southlake and Colleyville are out of your budget other than maybe a fixer-upper or a foreclosure.

What part of town do you work in. Considering you live in Arlington I would suggest Keller or Mansfield to the south. To the north you have H.E.B, Grapevine, Flowermound, Coppell etc. There are plenty of great area's in your price range.
