Find out who built it and have them come take a look. Alliance Inspections is the guy I use and he can check out a pool as well as anyone. DM me if you want his number.

I just saw this post, don't know if you found anyone yet or not. I just had a pool built in Allen last fall. The company, Imperial Pools & Spas, is owner operated and has been in business in business for 28 years. He builds mostly in Allen, Lucas and Fairview but does not advertise. I don't know if he does inspections or not. He does do repair work but he would probably know of a good reference if he does not do the inspections. I don't throw out referrals unless I believe in them. I think he is very honest and I give him my highest recommendation. If you are interested, send me an email and I will send his name and phone number back to you.

Hey thanks JSteele. We haven't even bought the house yet, but this is one of things on our "to do" list: find a pool inspector, so when we find that elusive fabulous house with a pool in our price range, we will be prepared!

thanks again!

Hello Brookside,

That is a very smart move to have the pool inspected by a professional pool company. Pools are very complex and high value with so many configurations and equipment options they are difficult enough for professional pool people to keep up with, let alone a Real Estate Inspector.

I myself only perform a very limited visual inspection and highly advise the buyers to have a professional come in. Besides, Real Estate Inspectors generally make this an add on service at an additional cost. Their cost is usually no different, or not much at all, than a professional pool company to inspect it. Some pool companies will even reduce a maintenance contract amount by part or all of the pool inspection cost if you ask them.

The person I call for all of my pool inspection jobs is Tom Dittman from Palm Springs Pool Service Home, 214-358-3268. He does a very thorough job and is very reasonable in price.

if you are buying a home, your realtor has pool inspectors to recommend when you find house and have offer accepted--that is one of the things you do during the 10day option period
