Depending on how an interview goes I might be relocating with the Family to Dallas. My understanding is the company is right downtown (Ross Avenue), so I am looking for someplace within about 45 minute commute with good schools and low crime. My son is going on 4 so the early schools are important.

TIA
Dave

Default Relocating to Dallas

Since schools and low crime rate are big issues for you, I would suggest that in Dallas possibly Lakewood or Lake Highlands areas. Otherwise, it would be my suggestion that you look towards the northern suburbs. Commute from the suburbs would be a bit bad but it is a trade-off if you want the other things you mentioned. (Crime rate would probably be lowest in the suburbs.) There are areas (and suburbs) of Dallas where the commute would be better but the schools and crime issues would be dicey.

That is a long commute -and it's only going to get worse. Why don't you just move to California?

There are plenty of nice places close to downtown with good schools (mostly just north and east) ask your new co-workers. I live in East Dallas/Lakewood and never drive more than 5-10 minutes to get anywhere. We have three exemplary and three recognized elementary schools.

What is your price range?

That is something that is going to depend on the interview as well. Still waiting to hear what the job offer is so....
