I would look at the website and see who is performing to determine when to go:

BigTex.com: Main Stage (http://www.bigtex.com/entertainment/mainstage/index.asp - broken link)

I am up for .38 Special! My sister and some of her friends from CA are going to be here..

The Midway can get a little rowdy on weekend nights. I like it that way! Feels like the old days with the freak shows.

I have not even looked up to see who is going to be performing.
.38 Special is going to be there? AWESOME!!! I've seen them live before in a small venue.

We are going to try and go on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon/evening/ I need to check the website out. My daughter is in HS and her fair day is Oct 5th. So we'll see what other schools have the same fair day and judge from there. And no I would never go when DISD day is. sad, how we have to plan our lives around hooligans

Are you callin' me 'hooligan' ?

Avoid Senior Citizens Days. The place is over ran by motorized scooters and wheelchairs. That's OK if you're in a scooter. It's just difficult to get around inside some buildings with all that scooter traffic. Seniors (age 60+) will be admitted free on October 1, 8 & 15.

I think the first Tuesday is a good day for us. That's October 6th. Is there anything you people know of that makes that a not so good day? What day is the Dr. Pepper Can Day?

If you plan on parking a car at the Fair, get there about 9am before the lot fills up. By noon you're too late.

If we don't go out of town (Cabo ) we will go on this Tuesday. The kids are out of school that day and it is a cheap day to ride all of the midway rides. This is the day we usually go and it is not bad. It can be a wee bit crowded but not that bad really. We are usually done by 4-5 when all of the area high school DISD kids start showing up and the people after work. On this day we might not get there till 10 and we ALWAYS park on the fairgrounds and it is usually half empty still and the line to get in is pretty short.

If you have lil kids and/or only care about the rides then the Senior Citizen days might be the day to go. They won't be on the rides

GISD Fair Day is Monday, Oct 5th. However, the GISD takes the next day as a teacher in-service day. A lot of GISD kids/families will go on the exact Fair Day though. We just chose to always go on Tuesday. Before the kids were even in school we liked the Wednesday that seemed to always be the Rockwall ISD Fair Day.
