As I've been busy these past several years, I haven't really had a chance to socialize a whole lot. What I want is a place with a laid back, come-as-you-are atomsphere, with lots of people over 30..though I will settle for over 25 (as long as it's not a mere pick-up bar).

I've tried the following, and these are my impressions

*Lower Greenville (ok, especially the Kirby's WoodFire, but just one place out of many. Still, it seems mostly 25 and unders. Still, I haven't checked out many other places down there)

*The Westin (mostly out of towners)

*West End (Ditto)

*The Library Bar (Oak Lawn @ Cedar Springs). Not a gay bar, but more like a professional bar. Clientel was the right age, but a bit too dressy for my tastes.

*Chuy's (great food, laid back atmosphere. great for families and friends. But as far as drinking goes, it's predominately college students).

*West End Pub - the best place I found in the downtown area. However, it's a bit out of my way (I'm up in N. Central Dallas).

Any other suggestions?

Try these places:
Lee Harvey's - 214-428-1555
Doublewide - Welcome Trail Park Initiates!!!!
Vickery Park
Jack's Backyard, Oak Cliff

These are all probably out of your area - most south of downtown. Vickery is on Henderson...lots of chefs out there after work.

Terilli's Italian Restaurant and Bar for Dining in Dallas and Frisco

Lakewood First and Ten Lakewood's 1st & 10: The Best Burger is Back - Lakewood, Dallas, TX (http://lakewood-dallas.blackwhiteread.com/view/ad_page/428 - broken link)

Balcony Club - Lakewood Theater http://worldsbestbars.com/index.jsp (broken link)

Lakewood Tavern Sports Bar & Restaurant | Dallas, TX not really a sportsbar like this site states -- there are a lot of Lakewood locals who have known each other since kindergarten in the 1960s but also a lot of newcomers. Matt's Ranch Martinez is in between here and Balcony Club- it has an outside bar that is fun.

I like Vickery Park, Lee Harvey's, Old Monk and The Belmont also!

I'd recommend the Old Monk and Trinity Hall too.

We used to go to Gloria's (Greenville) because of the patio. (Not now, too cold LOL) Drinks are decent and, IMHO, food is kind of overpriced but you may want to give it a try because of the crowd you're looking for.

CORRECTION:

I said in my first post:

""*Lower Greenville (ok, especially the Kirby's WoodFire, but just one place out of many. Still, it seems mostly 25 and unders. Still, I haven't checked out many other places down there).""

That is actually FALSE. I don't know how that got into there, but all I can claim is sloppy editing on my part. There are actually plenty of 25 and overs there. My apologies for not paying sufficient attention to what I wrote before posting.

BTW, I did try The Old Monk, and it definitely fills the bill. Wide age diversity there. Within the space of 2 hrs, I socialized lightly with about 5 or 6 people, ranging in age from the mid 50s to mid 20s.

If you're willing to go up north to West Plano at the Shops at Legacy, there is a lounge call Sambuca that caters to the 30+ year old crowd. Loft 610 on SH121 in West Plano also caters to the 30+ crowd. Good luck.
