I'm a single mom, relocating with my 4 year old this summer. She'll be starting Kindergarten in Aug. I will purchase a home within 1 yr of my relo to the Dallas area. For my next home I'm looking in the usual places Plano, Frisco, Southlake, Keller and Flower Mound.

However I'm looking to rent for a few months before making a final decision. I welcome any recommendations of 2 - 3 bedrooms apts/condos/townhouses that are in safe areas with excellent school systems. I'll be in Dallas in 3 wks and would like to check them out.

Thanks

Where will you be working?
What is your budget?

FYI: Southlake has NO apartments.

I work from home so that's really not an issue as long as I can get to the airport within a reasonable time (less than 30-40 minutes).

My budget is between $1000 - 1400 per month

I wouldn't recommend Plano and Frisco since they are quite a drive (down a toll road) from DFW and even further away from Love Field. I can't give recommendations on specific apartment complexes, but the other areas you've chosen are fine.

FYI: all of the highways on the north side of DFW are going to be reconstructed starting in February, and the project will last 5 years. So, look west on 114 or down south on 121 or 360 to avoid that mess.
