The 2009 Dallas murder total was the lowest in decades, continuing a years-long decline that coincides with a dip in most big-city murder rates across the country, officials said.

Also the map had only 15 murders in Central Dallas. 15 is still too many but not much more than Arlington.

it was probably too hot or too cold to be out killing people.

Good thing it's declining, as I'm going to permanently move here (for the next 5-10 years atleast) during summer or early fall.

That said though, it's still fairly high, one murder nearly every other day.

Most of those murders happen in the ghettos. Stay out of the bad areas and you'll be fine.

Looks like if you are old and white and don't have many drug altercations you will be dandy.

Just stay clear of certain areas after midnight, don't be driving the ghetto mobile w/ the 24's and spinners on it flashing your grill and doing certain deals and all should be clear. Even in some of the "better" areas there are gang problems though. Just this past week up north of LBJ on Preston a gang shooting happened and killed one. Hey, as long as they are knocking off each other.........

It seems most of the murders involve people who know each other. I don't hear a lot of random killings. Most is domestic type disputes and involving gangs and drugs. Stay out of that and you should be good.

Domestic, and gang, drug, and other criminal related deaths are definitely the most common ones.

It's very rare that a random person would just come up and kill you, in the instances you read about that happening in the paper, there's usually some information we don't get, or that's hidden mid article that explains a bit more why it happened.

If someone tried to rob me for instance, I'd let them, no possession is worth a human life, not me nor theirs. (As far as killing the robber, house invader, etc.)

I usually feel pretty safe even in ghettos, though primarily during daytime. But even at night, you can usually avoid the problems by being a little "street smart" and use your head. Drug dealers generally don't like violent crime (unless it's turf wars, aka with other gangs) because it brings more police attention, and with that, less profits. I've found most drug dealers are fairly easy to deal with, as long as you don't go and **** them off, you're good.

Honestly, the thing I fear most is drunk white middle/high class college boys who think they can do what they want and get away with anything.
