Rockwall has always seemed like a great community and it's next up on my list of communities to research. We were seriously looking at the Firewheel area, but I've seen some beautiful properties in Rockwall and Heath. My husband would need to commute from there to the Eisemann Center area in Richardson. Google mapped the route from one of the houses I've seen and it's a 38 minute commute. For those of you familiar with this jaunt, is that about right? Do you think the 190/Geoge Bush Turnpike extension to I-30 will help shorten travel time?

Look at the route of the extension. It absolutely will shorten commute times from Rockwall, Rowlett, and south Garland into northern Richardson and Plano.

I've looked at the extension (NTTA has a boat load of info on their site), but was curious if someone with on-the-ground experience might guesstimate how much time could be shaved from the commute, i.e. 10-15 minutes...

maybe 10 mins, depends on where you live in Rockwall or Heath

Rockwall older area 10 mins (North Side), Rockwall (South Side) of freeway and towards Heath maybe 15 mins.

The connector is off the 30 there will also be on ramps off TX66/Lakeview (City Of Rowlett)

Ahhh. I like the fact there'll be a connector off 66, too. I missed that one on the map.

It depends entirely on what part of Rockwall you live in.

Yes the commute will be shorter. We're very excited that it's coming this way. They are making a lot of progress however, I don't believe the website when it says that they expect completion at the end of 2010. I think it would be closer to the end of 2011 at least.
