El Fenix enchiladas just pour chili on their's. I am looking for a good Red Enchilada. I have found two places that serve them: Esconditos, as in their "Old Fashioned" and suprisingly, Uncle Julio's. Go figure. When I say red, I do not mean ranchero sauce. I am talking about Red Chile sauce. Try explaining that difference in a Tex-Mex restaurant.

who in the area serves a good mole sauce?
Haven't have decent mole since we lived in CA and the ladies that worked for my husband would bring to company picnics.

Same diferences in regions can be said for BBQ ribs. I am a die hard dry rub fan. Does that mean Memphis is "more authentic" than Texas wet? no just different. same for Carolina BBQ the sauce is much more from juices and spices..no thick red "tomato based" ones.

Yeah, but everyone knows that Texas and Memphis BBQ are the best.

I've never liked NC pulled-pork/vinegar sauce BBQ.

You can get New Mexico Red and Green enchiladas at Weck's in Lewisville - Weck's for Breakfast & Lunch!. Plus they sell red and green chile sauce in bulk.

Try Carolina's at Midway/Rosemeade - I thought theirs was pretty good. Also Nuevo Leon in Farmer's Branch (Josey and Valley View, I think) is good - they also have a mole verde - http://www.nuevoleonrestaurant.net/.

Thanks for the suggestions you guys. I think though they are just breezing through on the way to Austin, but if they stay longer I'll keep that in mind.

Oh that is great. That drive to Albuquerque was getting old. I'll definitely have to get over there for lunch. They're a bit pricey on the bulk sauce. I'll be going through Alb in May and picking up a case of Garcia's Kitchen Red sauce. But it is good to know about Weck's here. We used to have Lincoln County Grill in Plano just off of Coit at Spring Creek for authentic New Mexican, but that closed about the time I moved to the neighborhood.

Bostonian...well if they are going to Austin maybe you had better take them to the patio at Matt's (next to Lakewood Theater).

Yum, last night I was thinking about going by there and getting some Bob to go -- in the mornings I just go to Taco Joint on Carroll and order their version - "The Disaster"

Chile Rellenos are the best thing at Matt's IMO, however...
