US Census Press Releases (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/population/011671.html - broken link)

It's exciting to see us grow and flourish, but at the same time I don't want Dallas to lose it's identity and just become some massive swell of cities like LA.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex had the largest numerical population gain of any metro area in the U.S. for 2009.

From an article in the DBJ:

"The 2009 metro area population estimate shows that some 6.45 million people lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as of July 1, 2009, up 146,530, or 2.3% over 2008.
That raw influx of 146,530 is more than any other region in the nation. The Houston metro area had the second-largest influx of residents at 140,784 or 2.5%."

Census: D-FW was fastest-growing metro area in 2009 - Dallas Business Journal:

I started to point out that 2010 census is still in the works--there is NO WAY an accurate count of which area has grown the most can be given now...and speculation like this is what makes people so doubtful of accuracy of results when they are tabulated and presented...

D/FW's growth has been incredible indeed. I think its safe to say all of Texas' cities have grown tremendously the past 10 years.

DFW and Houston look to be neck and neck this year. Seems Houston gained more if you include domestic and international migration, but DFW gained more when you include natural increase, on top of the domestic/international migration.

So does anyone else around here remember how things changed so much from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s? Now we are expanding almost exponentially.

Adding 1.3 million, as of 2009, is like adding the city of San Antonio every decade. With so much room to grow, is there really any end in sight?

So then put simply, it's (1) Houston, (2) Dallas (3) Ft Worth. Right ?
