Hi I'm going through a difficult relationship with my commonlaw husband of 16years. I'm trying to find me a decent place for me and my 8 kids to live because I'm planning to leave him. I have been searching around for all sort of help but could not find any. All of the houseing authority and section 8 have close all of their application. I also have been looking for rental property but could not find any that I would be able to afford. Please if any of you know any imformation about any thing please let me know. I need to find a place as soon as possible. I'm willing to move to McKinny, Allen, Richardson, Garland, Carrollton, Plano, and even Frisco. With my income only on a rental house I probably can afford up to $1000, I know that is streaching it a bite thin but what can I do. Have tried every thing. Please Please Help

I am totally stunned that anyone can be in this situation and also drag 8 innocents into it, too. Maybe you should contact social services or United Way to see what community services there are and maybe you should consider having some of your children living with relatives who can provide for them.

There are also laws for the number of occupants per # of bedrooms. $1000 won't get you a 5 bedroom house. If you fear for your safety or the safety of your kids, you need to go to a shelter until you get help from social services.

For the size house she needs and the budget she is working with I would suggest she look in more affordable parts of DFW. It will be very difficult to find a 4 bedroom house for 1k. It will be impossible to find it in the cities listed other than maybe Garland. I would out the northern burbs due to you can't get alot of bang for buck in those cities. Best wishes to her becasue she is in a near impossible situation.

Actually, the federal housing law designates that the maximum for occupancy is 2 people per bedroom plus one, so a 4 bedroom house has an occupancy of 9 people. You actually may be able to find a house, by the skin of your teeth, for that.

I saw this link when I was looking. Also:

This is a decent area, very quiet and not too far from the high school... my friend owns a coffee shop not too far away so I'm familiar with it.

Good luck to you!! You should be eligible for something once you are on your own with that number of children (I'm also from a very large family, so I get how things can be fine and go south extraordinarily quickly).

Those places are, I believe, lower in rental for people willing to live month to month with their beautiful furniture while the house is on the market; don't think a family of 9 will be able to maintain a magazine perfect image for their home or any owner will rent to them under those terms.[/b]//www.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smack.gif
