Does anyone know how to find legitimate basic facts about an area/neighborhood? I'm specifically wondering about North Oak Cliff/Oak Cliff area. Thanks!

Here's a quick link to the DPD website. The crime map is pretty neat it lets you zoom in on a neighborhood.

Dallas Police Department (http://www.dallaspolice.net/index.cfm?subnav=57&page_ID=1206 - broken link)

There are parts of Oak Cliff that are nice, and as a whole is a rather historic neighborhood. Truth be told there is a high crime rate in Oak Cliff, mostly related to drug dealing and gangs. Crime tends to spill over from the bad areas to the nice ones. I'm not sure but I believe there is an Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, and perhaps a neighborhood association.

I used that same exact mapping service in San Diego. There we had the ability to plug in an address and it would send you a list of all crimes within a 5 2-3 mile radius. It was very cool.....did get old seeing how many people recv speeding tickets though....

It must be a data/application pulled together and run by a third party that the PDs purchase/lease.

I wonder if I can find something similar for Tarrant and Collin Counties...
