Hello,

I moved from New Jersey to Dallas last year(Sept 2009) and currently living in Los Colinas,Irving.
Planning to buy home in Allen by end of this year and wanted to know how good the place compared to other cities like plano, coppel.
My work in on highway 183/mac arthur rd.

That's going to be one heck of a commute in the morning.

I agree... that is probably close to a 1 hour commute now matter which way you go, down 121 or through the tpk.

If that's ok with you, Allen is great a nice place to live in. I haven't encountered anyone that regrets buying there. You will get more home then you would in Coppell. I suppose the attraction is the new home? If not, then you may want to consider Grapevine and Coppell and Bedford too.

One heck of commute for sure! I would go crazy having to do that every day. Also, the Stacy Rd./ Central Expressway area has very heavy traffic during the rush hours. Just a warning. There are a lot of great shops around that area though.

allen is too far from your work and stacy road is crazy due to outlet malls ... coppell and irving are good choices and west plano near 190/toll way can work as well.

Default Commute to Irving daily - love Allen!

I live in Allen, very close to Stacy, but away from the congestion of the new shopping centers, @ Exchange and Greenville area. I commute to Irving daily and it is really not that bad. 35 minutes door to door. Of course I do work an odd shift so I miss the main part of rush hour. Allen is a fantastic city to live in and especially to raise children. I moved here in 2007 primarily for the schools. My last child is graduating from Allen High School this year. I can't say enough good things about the schools here. And pretty much everything about Allen is great. I am sad that we are going to be moving. I am getting my house ready to put on the market in the next month. My son is going to college in another city and I am going with him. I will carry fond memories of this great community.
