Now, I hope he learned his lesson about traveling to North Korea. When a country is on the state department "DO NOT TRAVEL TO" list, stay the hell out!

I don't get what possessed him to bring a bible in the first place, his church, urbancrest in Lebanon is just like solid rock minus the Jesus statue. At least he did not get held captive by ISIS, he would have been beheaded for sure.

He was possessed to possess The Book.

He was possessed by the motivation to 'make a statement.' He knew he would probably be incarcerated, but treated better than an ordinary citizen there.

He also knew that he would get released sooner or later, but he was in the service of the Lord ( and still is ). Of course, this is drifting far far away from anything pertaining to Dayton.

He lives here, it is on topic

Now, explain why there was a Ferguson Missouri thread in this forum recently?

Ferguson thread? I don't remember one. Are you talking about the Beavercreek shooting?

Anyways, I don't know enough to intelligently comment about this issue, but for his family's sake I'm happy he is home and I hope he gets any ridiculous ideals of converting North Koreans to Christianity out of his head. There's a time and place for those discussions, and with a currently oppressed population is neither the time nor place.

Oh ... NOW I get why you left me that nasty pissy DM.

I was self-moderating my own post and not yours if you would read more carefully.

"Who died and left you in charge?" - indeed. Anyone's entitled to complain about off-topic stuff. Even little ol' me. Of course, had you properly comprehended what I wrote, you would have seen that I was complaining about myself and not you. You would not have 'conclusion-jumped' into thinking that I was referring to a thread about Mr. Fowle as being off-topic.

I'm, of course, certainly entitled to complain about what you write if I want to.

Your DM may have stated that it is "your" thread, but you only started the thread. It belongs to cyberspace now. Too bad so sad.

It's the religious missionary mindset. Indoctrinating, err, spreading the message to the heathens in order to save them from eternal damnation. But anyway, welcome back dude....hope we never hear from you again.

For years until I had a smart phone I carried a pocket Bible. It's one of those Gideons New Testaments. A couple times I had to give it a "new" cover made out of duck tape due to wear and tear.

It's easy to put it down somewhere, alongside your wallet and keys. Since he knew all the rooms were bugged/searched regularly in North Korea, it's easy that they found it, put him in jail on some trumped up charges.

It should be a nonissue, but it does highlight that practicing Christianity is illegal or persecuted in some fifty-odd countries to this day. The liberals, secularists, and progressives all like to highlight they want freedom from religion... forgetting that freedom of religion is equally important.
