No demand for the service, I imagine.

Today the demographics are against starting such a service. It would not be much used, anyway.

It still seems like RTA should go to the Airport. I know it goes all through Vandalia.

Adding a route there would only be another 2-3 miles on a current route.

Not even 2-3 miles! It stops by Randler and Alkaline Springs which is easily under 1/2 mile from the airport. Yeah they prolly should. I'm sure they will in the future. DIA is growing...alot, infastructurally speaking and growing in popularity.

One option (which I just heard about today when I was walking out of the airport) is Charter Vans. It's not RTA, but they offer shuttle service to most of the Dayton area and even beyond.

Never knew they existed, but their website has all the details. Click on the 'Rates' link for a good list of places they go to.

Ground Transportation to and from Dayton International Airport
