Unless they are very rare or college text books that are current----used books are a dime a dozen.
Heck, for a couple of bucks you can buy every kind of book imaginable at a second hand store. ( including best sellers from a short time ago)
What the scam is is in people believing there is a market for most of the books they want to get rid of.
Anyone who reads the site will know that they are not going to make huge amounts of money and that most books are not accepted. There is no scam here. It is straight talking, straight arrow site. Any money received is gravy. The seller is not out any money.
Try looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty.
I did this and made $1.25. They're not interested in generic paperbacks, they want books that they can make $$ on. You can input your book information their website and it will tell you if it will be accepted, and if so, how much they will pay you for it.

I'm glad you posted that you've used this site or a similar type site before. I don't think anyone will make much money.....but with so many people moving and/or downsizing, I guess even making some money on them is better than practically having to give them away at a garage sale.
The books I don't want (usually gifts from people who want me to read *something else* and it's still like tearing a baby out of my arms), I trade on paperbackswap.com
But if postage goes up again, I may have to stop that :/
I went through all the books in my house to see if I would make any $$. You can enter the UPC code and it will tell you if they are buying it, and how much they will pay. I have two costume books that I paid $22 each for, and was offered $2.25. I decided to keep them. And they don't buy fiction at all.
