Pik, since you are intersted in anthro I suggest reading "Coming of Age in Samoa" by Margaret Mead.
It's is a facinating book and was a mandatory read in one of my anthropology classes.
Also, for lighter reading I suggest reading any of the three books (murder mysteries) written by Simon Beckett. His stuff is wonderful and you learn a lot about anthropology from them. The "hero" in all his books is a forensic anthropologist.
I'm a firm believer in that for each person God has given us unique skills and ability to help mankind. Now, many people may use those skills for personal gain and selfish reasons, but we can take control of that and use whatever gift we have to help the world.
So, just because it may sound useless, this isn't true! I think we should follow our hearts...because at the end of the day.....we will find our own rainbow that has the capacity to change the world.
Pik, congrats on your decision to go back to school. I wish I had the discipline to do it myself, just for myself. I don't think any learning is ever wasted. (we have to do somethng with all those brain cells or they atrophy)

I agree with you, it's never ever wasted...
Ohh I'd love to go back to college too! Not for degrees, just to learn new stuff. But it's sooo expensive... Anyway, I've learnt lots of new things over the past few months... relocating did the trick, in a way...

Maybe you would enjoy some of those online free courses. I guess it isn't the same as going to an actual class, but it might be fun to take one and see how you like it.
Oh I tried the MIT classes you told us about, but I can't download the stuff we have to download, it just won't work on my computer - it must be missing something, and I don't know what that is...
I hope I'll be able to download and study them soon because there are lots of things I'm interested in on the list!

If you live near a community college, check out their catalog. You can usually find free classes, or very very low cost.
I wanted to thank everyone on here for never making snarky comments on any religious or political freebies. It shows how nice the Freebie Gang is!! It is really nice posting with all of you!!
I think that's why I prefer it here to my local forum (sorry to anyone reading this). I just don't like nasty and hateful. Just have fun and be nice. It's easier and it's better for you in the long run!
Glad I found this place and all of you guys.
