Hi

My daughter got accepted both to St Elizabeth High School and Mt. Pleassant High School. I am confused at which would be a better school for her. Can anyone outline the pros and cons of both schools. I am so confused. Please help!

Mt. Pleasant is a public high school, it has the gifted or I.B program, I can't remember which one. Brandywine School District puts those programs in the poorer perfoming schools to bring the test scores up. It is also, along with P.S Dupont Middle School the only school in the Brandywine School District to have a full time police officer. The other two high schools share a police officer. Other than that, Mt Pleasant is fine.

Also on Mt Pleasant, some find it to be a culture shock because its located in a predominantly white area in North Wilmington and white children are the minority in the school.

St E's is a private school with a decent reputation, not like St Marks or Tower Hill, but I believe the tuition is much cheaper at St E's. I think its one of the most affordable private schools in Delaware.

If curriculum is your biggest concern than I would go with M.P, Delaware public schools are excellent at teaching bright students. Plus its free. Also M.Ps demographic is probably closer to the real world.

If she has gotten an academic scholarship for St E's well that would be tough to turn down.
