This morning, the Mayor of Dewey Beach sent out the following update to local property owners:

"The storm has passed completely and the only obvious damage is a street light that was blown down at Read Street. No obvious damage to homes or other buildings has been detected at this time. Minor street flooding and debris.

The bay approached Route One is spots but the bay did not meet the ocean and we are around high tide at this time. So there is little likelihood of further flooding. The new infrastructure at Bayard and Cajun Cove appears to be working well.

Since there is still a Governor’s ban on non-emergency travel in Sussex Co., it is requested that you wait awhile before traveling to check on your property but for the most part things are better than we would have hoped.
I will send you further information as soon as I have it.

Diane Hanson
Mayor
Town of Dewey Beach"

I deleted my own post.
I was on the wrong track. I thought you meant either Silver Lake in Dover, or Silver Lake in Middletown. But now I think you mean Silver Lake Rehoboth to Dewey. Sorry, I don't know how that is.

I should be up in the Rehoboth area tomorrow now that the IR inlet bridge is open again, and I'll swing by there and check Silver Lake out.

Thanks, you are the best! For a while we were looking at a place right by the lake--looks like someone else bought it but I'm still keeping tabs on the area. There's something about Silver Lake that I just really like. Sure hope whomever bought that house didn't end up having to deal with flooding.

Hurricane report, as promised: I drove by Silver Lake this morning and all was well....no debris, no flooding, no issues. I was surprised how dead Rehoboth was, given I avoid Rehoboth Beach during the summer like it's a door-to-door salesman. I drove in and out without any problem!

Thanks for the tip! Since it's quiet, maybe I'll stroll the boardwalk today and re-live years gone by.

Yay! I'm glad to hear the lake didn't overflow and cause a big mess. Thanks beachliz.
