My husband's job is relocating to King of Prussia, PA. We live in Middletown, DE. The commute is going to double in distance (63 miles one way) and I'm afraid triple in time... Is there any public transportation option to go at least part of the way? Any thoughts/ideas... We're pretty bummed.

I'm thinking that public transportation would make the commute even longer, no?

Either way, that is a hike. I know traffic can get pretty congested up that way also. Hope someone else can give you some options for public transit. Good luck

You're probably right... I don't even know what else to try.

I'm also gathering that traffic up there is bad. Ugh.

I looked for ya at the Wilmington train station to KOP and it didn't look very good, maybe out of Claymont or Marcus Hook train stations? I found Paoli to be the closest to KOP but I might have missed someting.

Yes, the traffic is brutal up there, anywhere near rt 202 is a nightmare, plus the cost of gas. He's probably looking at 1 1/2 hours to get home depending on when he leaves.

Hey, you can always move up to North Wilmigton with us "big shots". Lol.

We're locked into a lease for another year. If it wasn't for this, we're pretty happy here!

Thank you for checking..

My drive is average an hour each way from Philly to Newark. I cant EVEN IMAGINE KOP to Middletown... I would be sending out resumes like crazy.

Most leases have a clause regarding job transfers. Maybe that applies in your situation. The drive to KOP can be a nightmare if he is driving during rush hour. If he can change his hours, he could probably make it each way in 1.5 hours, which is still too much time on the road and away from the family. I can drive from Kirkwood to KOP in just about an hour, but that's leaving at 9 a.m. and driving back around 3 p.m. Rush hour now starts about 6 a.m.

I'm really lucky, living in North Wilmington and working in Marcus Hook. Its about 8 miles round trip. Heck I'm known for coming home at lunch which is a 1/2 hour for a #2. Just in case it gets messy . Probably too much info there but someone should get a laugh out of it.

Are you using rt 202? That stretch after rt 1 at Painters Crossing through West Chester is a nightmare, for me anyway.

I rarely make the drive, but when I do, I use the Blue Route. I am not usually the one who drives, but my friend drives the speed limit. It takes her one hour from my driveway, but it is never during rush hour and we have been lucky not to be backed up due to an accident or road construction.

Perhaps on his job he can check around to see if anyone else lives in Middletown or Bear & they can car pool, at least he'd have someone to help with the cost of gas. Truthfully from where you live to KOP there is no shorter route other than taking rt 202. It could also help if he could change his working hours around the rush hour. I live in Bear & use to commute to Cherry Hill, NJ, took me 1 hr door to door, but I was leaving at 5:30am & returning home at 2:30pm, so I missed all the rush hr traffic.
