The Philadelphia 76ers(NBA) have just acquired an NBA D-League franchise which is the NBA’s only minor league. The team will play in Newark, DE with management offices located in Wilmington, DE. The team will be called the "Delaware 87ers" and will be a direct affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. This is great news for the state of Delaware as well as the Greater Philadelphia Region.

The NBA D-League also has two New England teams. One is in Springfield, MA (Armor) at the MassMutual Center. The other is in Portland, ME (Red Claws) at the Expo Building on Park Avenue, next door to Hadlock Field (minor league baseball). We here in Connecticut already have the Sun of the WNBA. They play at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville (southeast CT). Springfield, MA isn't that far from here anyways. I've been to the MassMutual Center several times for AHL Hockey and a couple of WWE shows.

I thought it was interesting as it brings another social outlet
and positive economic impact to Delaware.

Here's to hoping the NFL starts a D-League

Recap of Delaware 87ers Day in Wilmington. They seem to be well embraced by the local Delaware community.
