Moving from Staten Island, NY. Looking for a non-touristy, non transient town in Sussex County. Job is in Seaford and I am willing to commute 25/30 mins. I'm fine with a small apartment or mobile home, budget under 700. Not interested in Lewes or Rehoboth, would like a smaller town with a year round community of Delawareans. Any recommendations? I like quiet and nature all I need to entertain me is a local bar and a movie theater.

Any town away from the beach is "..non-touristy, non transient town..".
Dagsboro has a movie theater with one screen. Any other theaters are at Midway. Dover or Salisbury.
Sussex county is all natural!

I was thinking Dagsboro too.....also a short drive away is Trap Pond in Laurel for hiking, kayaking, etc. There are many local Delawareans in Dagsboro as well.

Smile maybe Laurel?

Not sure if it is quite in Sussex County (don't have my Delaware map handy) but I like Laurel. Near enough to services and shopping you might need, but still small enough and seemed quiet when I was there. If you really want to get out there, I thought I was lost while driving around extreme Southern Delaware last spring, and came upon Gumboro. Just a crossroads really, but pretty and rural.

Good luck!

Dagsboro has one drawback as far as tourists; they use rt 26 a lot during the summer season. The summer traffic is heaviest on rt 1 and rt 113.

There are many properties in the Seaford,Laurel,Bridgeville area that would fit your budget. Watch the speed limits over there. Movies would be in Salisbury.

As an alternative, if you pick a place without a movie theater you can always get a large screen TV and stream Netflix!
