Just saw my first Bald eagle in MCH. I have seen them in Alaska, Maine and Canada and I have heard of them at the 202 to I95 ramp area and up Kennett Pike but this was off of Doe Run.

It's a good day.

Enjoy the sighting. It is always a thrill to see such a magnificent bird. We have an active nest right next to a busy road and bordering a train track in a town nearby. They stay there because they get eels and fish from a nearby river. Now there is a new nest, near me, right next to US Route 1. Apparently human activity and traffic do not affect their choice of nesting sites. Hope it is a successful next in MCH and produces young.

I didn't know either (I live in Ct) but saw poster's location. The poster notes intersection where seen.

Funny. Born and raised in DE, lived in Pike Creek for 10 years, worked for local media at one point - never once heard of "Mill Creek Hundred". But it indeed exists: The Mill Creek Hundred History Blog

I've just never heard anyone use that term before! Brandywine Hundred yes, but Mill Creek Hundred? You learn something new every day.

(Oh, and I've seen bald eagles on occasion at White Clay Creek State Park. Also over the Brandywine River in West Chester, and near Elk Neck State Park in nearby MD).

Like you, I couldn't get past wondering what in the world is MCH.

In my mind, the best approximation was "Main Christiana Hospital"

Anyway, thank you to the person who clarified.

And to the original poster, that's fantastic!!!

I've yet to see a bald eagle outside of captivity. I've seen a golden eagle
in captivity (a rescue), many hawks, and a falcon.

The falcon inhabited a perch built by the university when I was in
graduate school. I'll never forget every time I would use an empty
classroom in the statistics department on the 14th floor of the building,
the falcon would always check me out peeking through the window
standing on the ledge.

What always amazed me was no matter how close I got to the window,
the falcon never budged, only staring back tilting his (her?) head.

I hope to see a bald eagle some day.

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't know why people post abbreviations and acronyms and expect everyone to know what they mean.
