I don't think you are going to find a big Indian community like in Buffalo. Almost 90% of the community is white based on what i have found. There is not an area of the city or neighborhood that is mainly Indian.

There is/was a large Indian and Pakistani population in the apartment complexes in Claymont on Naamans Road (Route 92) and I-95. Had a Hindi friend who lived there for quite a while. I think she lived in the Apartments at Society Hill, but there are several with good reviews.

Check out apartments.com/Delaware and apartmentguide.com/Delaware and put in your specs. Nice apartments will actually cost more than your budget. Stay away from Harbor House and Melrose apartment complexes on Kirkwood Highway as they have quite a police presence--always something going on there.

Fox Run Apartments in Bear is very close to everything and you can probably get a one-bedroom in your price range. If you can up your budget, you might want to check Brandywine Woods in Bear.

Also, many complexes run specials, so check them out.

When you find something that you think you would like, please post and we can tell you more about the area.

Hockessin and Pike Creek are very near to Newark and have Indian populations. They're also nice areas to live in (Hockessin is a little more expensive and a little further away from the interstate highway, whereas Pike Creek has more townhomes).

If you're Hindi, the Hindu Temple of Delaware is in Hockessin. Here's their website: Welcome to the Hindu temple of delaware

Good luck and welcome!

Stratford SDK Apartments in North Wilmington is your best bet. It is a large complex with a huge Indian population (>50% of the complex). It's a bit more than the price you're looking for and about a 20-25 minute drive to Newark, but you won't find a place to live with a greater concentration of Indians than there.

There is also a large Indian population, mainly JP Morgan transfers, in Tower I at the Greenville Place Apartments. The building also has a clubhouse, which provides a great opportunity for you to mingle with your compatriots.
