We are going back and forth between the two. I am just wondering if there will be enough activities for seniors during the day. We are looking at Milford Ponds in Milford. They will have a pool and a club house. The homes are all one level with 2 - 3 bedrooms. Any thoughts or opinions would be helpful.

I don't know much about Milford except from a friend who lives there in a SFH. The debate for all age or over 55 is one that has pros and cons so only you can really answer that for yourselves. DH and I are childless unfortunately and while many would guess that we would have wanted 55+ they would have guessed incorrectly. I love to hear the voices of children, playing in the area and at the pools in the summer. The young people in this community have been welcomed by the retirees and we look forward to seeing and participating in the activities we offer for the kids such as the Easter egg roll, Halloween party, and Christmas party to name just a few. In terms of numbers, of the 115 homes here, there are maybe 10 with kids that are school age.

We don't have the pull chains that are in some places for an emergency and we don't have the grab bars preinstalled as they would in a 55+ community, but they can always be added if necessary. Of the retirees, DH and I were the babies until January when a 62/63 year old couple joined us full-time and we are 65.

We do not have daily activities but have an active social calendar that includes monthly cocktail parties, SuperBowl party, Kentucky Derby party, a book club, a Mah Jongg group, and a Pay Me card group to name just a few. We joined a church and are active there and DH golfs so that keeps us busy. I do a lot of volunteer work and that too occupies my time.

So for us, 55+ was never a consideration, the kids keep us young and it is amazing to watch them grow.

I agree with Nuts. We live in a small town, have plenty to do, and enjoy watching the kids passing by our house on their way to school, which is a block from us. When we're outside, we can hear marching band practice, starting in August readying for football season, and we can hear the cheers from the stadium during football games. We're WAY above retirement age, and wouldn't consider a 55+. We don't need planned activities, or to live around all retired people. As far as grass cutting/show shoveling, there are plenty of kids around town that love to earn money!
