Hi folks,
I was hoping to get some help with moving out of NJ. Home of the insanely HIGH property taxes ,to Delaware area (above Dover) My husband and I are looking for 55+ communities. I am 54 and he is 62 so I don't want a communitiy where people at 70+. We also need to sell our house first. Hope someone can help us out.

Here is the link for 55+ communities in DE. We live in Southern Meadows Active adult community.
I suggest you research the communities and find out which ones suite you needs then visit the ones you may be interested in.

ethelm,
Try doing a search for 55+ communities here or over 55 - for some reason the other link can't be found. Anyway, there's quite a bit of info on the forum
Good luck -

Like Honeycrisp said, we also have a whole thread devoted to 55+ commuities.
Good luck.

Before we choose this community, we looked at communities we could afford first of all then the amnenities that we wanted.
Made a list of all we wanted that we were interested in then visited.

Good luck.

Another 55+ development is Longacre Village and it's just a little south of Camden. Camden, Delaware.... There's four builders in there, some building townhomes and other single family homes. Here's the website for the single family home builder, hope this helps in your comparison. We're originally from Jersey, been here about 8 years and we LOVE it here. Property taxes and sales tax aside, we just simply enjoy the people, the area and the lifestyle. There's so much less stress just driving around and, I didn't even fully realize how frustrating driving was in NJ, it was just a way of life.

Default Leaving NJ

Hi Guys,
I too am leaving NJ due to the cost here. My husband retires in 2 years, but I don't believe the high costs of homes. I am looking for a small home, aprox. 1100 sq. feet but it is difficult to find. My hubby likes Sussex County. We are looking at Pot-Nets on Monday. I remember visiting a place I think it was Sussex where everybody had their own docks right at their doors. Can anyone direct me to that location.
Thanks for your help. I am a newbie here.
Joan
