We are looking for our first home and came across a lovely home in Norwegian Woods (newark) right off Old balitmore Pike and 273. Love how close we are to 95 and the shopping / dining looks good also.

Can anyone provide any feedback on the location / homes / people etc? There's my dream house!

We liked Norwegian Woods and have a home from the same builder. What model are you looking at? Make sure that you check the walls. I had never heard of nail pops until I moved to Delaware. I now have a collection of nail pops. Also, look for tape that is visible on the ceilings. If your home will be over 3800 square feet (it probably will be) you really need zoned heating and a/c. I think for Delaware that our house is fairly well built. In my opinion, homes in Delaware, at least in my price range, are not built as well as they are in PA. Norwegian Woods is in an excellent location. If you need specific info, let me know.

Thanks for our reply - We are looking at the Julliard Model (newer section of Norwegian Woods) (i think they consider that 3600 sq ft.) I have seen the house (and to the eye no nail pops and if there were they were addressed / walls look pretty ~even~ - and the people who own it have taken excellent care of it). We may begin to negotiate with the sellers. - but any other opinions are much welcomed.

I have not seen that model and am curious of the layout. Please describe. Does it have the butterfly staircase or the front and back staircase? Sunroom? How large is the yard? What I found amusing since I come from South Philly row houses is that people in our communities are known by the model of their home.

Default norwegian woods

I fell in love with that development also.....until I found out that the school district that it is in isn't all that great.

If you don't have kids in school, it is a great place to live!

The same builder has Southern View in Smyrna. I don't know how Smyrna schools rank currently, but they used to be excellent. I think crime has increased in the area, but someone on this board could address that.
