Both of my parents have received outstanding medical care at Christiana. My father had cancer and my mother has ongoing heart issues. My mother had heart valve replacement surgery there last year. Several years ago my father had surgery, chemo, etc all at their Cancer Center.

If you are someone of color or your address is in a neighborhood none as a minority neighborhood then expect to get treated with an attitude and disrespect. When you go into the er, if you in that category then you will not believe what you are telling and look for every way to make it seem like you don't know what you're talking about. the er visit is very unpleasant to people of color or to people that live around then. and all this information I got is from personal experience and friends of mine that are both black and white that work in the hospital

Our Christiana emergency room in Middletown is excellent. Do not use the main er; you will be waiting for a long time on most occasions. I have had three surgeries in either the main hospital or their Wilmington facility. One of the surgeries was unsuccessful and I had to go up to Jefferson to have it done correctly. Another had to be redone.

Do not use any DE medical personnel for cancer. I ended up at Sloan-Kettering in NY City and they saved my life after a diagnosis in DE of pancreatic cancer. Sloan has doctors who train the types of cancer docs we have in DE. DE has many great docs. Talk to your senior citizen residents. They know more about medical care in DE than most younger people who simply have less knowledge about DE people and places.
