Hi there. I was wondering what type of museum and cultural events interest people. I know there are some pretty cool things coming up at Winterthur Museum in Wilmington. They have an exhibition called "Feeding Desire: Design and the Tools of the Table, 1500-2005" coming up next month and running through February 1. According to the Web site, www.winterthur.org/feedingdesire, they hosting cooking demonstrations, coffee tastings, and other stuff that kind of relates to this show.

Anybody interested in that kind of thing? What else are you checking out these days?

Harry

Brandywine River Museum has A Brandywine Christmas and the Chadds Ford Winery has events through the end of the year.

Just in Delaware - I'm going to go see the Gordon Parks exhibit at the Delaware Art Museum. I'd also like to tour Nemours as they just underwent a major restoration.

Now, if we're talking outside of Delaware - that's a much longer list!

We've only lived in central DE for about 15 months now, and are still discovering all the area has to offer. I think katreese has a good point... this area is so centrally located in the east coast, there are literally thousands of museums and exhibits within reach (I'd say, within a 2 hour drive).

So far, we've made it to several museums in NYC, the Franklin Institute in Philly, and the Smithsonian in DC. On shorter trips, we've gone to several smaller museums in Kent County, and a couple in Sussex. We have not had the good fortune to explore much in New Castle county, but fully intend to in the months to come. Thankfully, our kids LOVE museums, so we usually have too much to choose from!
