In the News Journal today Delmarva officials said "low-usage customers were not paying their fair share of the company's fixed expenses"
"Lower usage customers would see a bigger increase"

I'm glad I didn't let my wife buy those $4.00 lightbulbs that only light a small area. When profit is more important than common sense you have a flawed system. I hear some water company's are going to do the same thing. I'm really embarassed by some of the things company's in this country can get away with. Sickening

here's the deal - Delmarva is charging everyone a fixed transmission cost - that's it
If you are an average home with mostly CFL lighting, are home in the evenings and a good portion of the weekend, have a tv on in the evenings and maybe a computer running while you are home, it will cost you about $5.50 more per month.

People complain about the power companies needing to deliver more consistent service and upgrade their equipment so failures don't happen...the only way they do that is by raising money through transmission charges. The electric rates per kWh are regulated (as are all charges by the utilities) by the state and tied directly back into the cost of generation.

That may be the case but I don't want to hear "Low Usage customers don't pay there fair share" We are taught to conserve energy for lower bills and less emmissions rom the power company. I have a 1600sqft house and my gas and electric bill is usually $250.00 per month on average. Thats just crazy.

since we put solar panels on our roof, we pay 50 bucks instead of 300 (2800 sqft)

Our last Delmarva Power bill was $86, down a little from February. In the summer, the highest it is with the air conditioner on is about $115. We have a big old 2 story house, and are very comfortable, in any weather.

I'd love to have a bill like that, I realize that with two kids and a wife mine won't be that cheap but my bill is crazy. Solar panels are a great idea and if I stay in Delaware its a good option.

if you spend $250 a month combined on your bill for gas and electric, your outlay will be $5-6 on average

they have to keep the equipment working...
