*Some* mouth problems *can* run in the family. It is a predisposition, not a guarantee. It means you might be at risk of problems at some point in your life. But if you take care of your teeth, don't smoke or drink soda or other syrupy drinks, don't go too long after eating without brushing, floss daily, visit your dentist at least once a year, you can minimize that risk.
If you minimize your risk, then it is possible that you will not have teeth any worse than anyone else in the world, even if bad teeth run your family.
In other words: "It's genetic" is not a valid excuse to neglect your dental health.
