  • Followed all the rules of post surgery
  • Have not had a full meal since
  • Have not brushed my teeth since
  • Been almost 72 hours since extraction, no stitches.
  • No fever
  • Swollen bad, hard to open mouth, can't even open mouth to eat if I wanted to
  • Although I am not oozing blood, I am still bleeding a little, you can see from pic how it has fresh blood around the swollen. Is this blood worrisome? Been 3 days..
  • Pain is minimal, but again can barely move/open mouth. Most pain comes when I try to move my lips/mouth

Call your oral surgeon today so you can be seen ASAP.

It looks like pericoronitis.

If you feel you are having issues contact the surgeon and speak with them. No one here can tell you if you are healing properly and honestly I did not open the photo. Personally I don't want to see a graphic, bloody photo of the aftermath of your surgery

Really? I thought it was normal to be swelling after tooth extraction?

Not really any "major" pain...

Why on earth would you take the time to take a photo, upload it to a message board, and type out a questions to strangers on the internet instead of contacting your doctor directly?

Ditto to what CSD610 says - call your doctor.

.
Not that kind of swelling.

Your gum looks infected. But I am not a doctor, just a mom who has been through 3 wisdom tooth extractions in my family.

You should be able to eat and open your mouth by now. Call your oral surgeon now.

Never went to dentist. I asked my neighbor who is a nurse, she said it's fine and normal swelling/inflammation and to take ibuprofen. She said I should be worried if it doesn't go back to normal after 1 week, but ~3 days after extraction it's fine.

If it is infected as you say, then I should be taking something like amoxicillin and also have a fever

You know, that is what you paid your dentist for -- you really should have called his office. Really hope you will be okay and you haven't developed an infection.

I hope I'll be fine too

And no I didn't pay my dentist for this. If I go back to him (as you recommend), then I'll need to pay him (again might I add). They don't do free check-ins, you pay for time
