As I advance with age and reading so much on C-D about health in all areas, and I've been and still am on health groups. But 10 yrs of it, starts to get old but I continue when I have the spunk to post.
I have a mouthful of dental work and know how much of this damage was due to sugars and refined carbs as these were main staples in my life.
Going to the dentist was when there was pain and usually meant a filling, RC or extraction etc. Crowns and bridges were added.
My last episode, about 10 yrs ago, was a molar that lost some filling and caused a lot of pain and swelling and ALMOST went with dentists recommendations to do a major job, but I didn't. The amoxicillan course did the job and then I went to work and learned about better dental care. And CUT way back on sweets of the refined nature...cookies, donuts, pasta and all of those.
I don't have pain and when I get a little sign of any pain I hit the area with myrrh tincture, this is a miracle remedy and one can read so much about it's effectiveness.
Some squack about my approach but that's OK, this is what is BEST for me as I'm finding out, very late but finding out.
As for cleanings, I went faithfully once a year, I never saw a NEED to go twice. That was always recommended as I recall. Now it's been about 5 yrs since I had a professional cleaning and I'm doing fine with my homemade toothpaste (which I've posted here) and my remedies for just in case.
I'm anti fluoride and my grandgirl's beautiful teeth ended up with fluorosis after she allowed the dentist to do a fluoride bath or whatever they do. I just saw her the other day and could see the fluorosis...I don't bring it up as it's a sore spot in their life.
So living long enough and Learning and Doing what feels right for the person is where I am. I have been more aware of it all in the last 25 yrs. Starting in my early 50's and I just turned 79.
I don't say "one should do this and that", but lay it out on what has and hasn't worked for me and if one thinks enough, it could help them...everyone has their own mindsets.
What if you had a relative that was a dentist (sibling, child, cousin) and it was totally free, would you still not go and trust them?
If I had a relative who was a dentist I'd probably go once a year for a cleaning, but would still do what I do now. I'd still not get xrays. I'd refuse implants too if they were offered FREE.

I was thinking about the question posed to me and have been thinking about it and posted a question on these lines in the Psychology area. On who I wish I was related to for health help. Thanks...
