I had cavities in my wisdom teeth and in my 40s, they started giving me trouble. One actually had a piece break off. The dentist said they don't put crowns on wisdom teeth, so I had it pulled. Two of the remaining teeth developed additional cavities which would have required a root canal--again, no point in doing that on a wisdom tooth, so out they went. I still have one left and I expect it will have to be pulled at some point or other. But I have very bad teeth in general. I brush and floss more than anyone else I know, and I still get cavities and have multiple crowns.

I find it much easier to clean my other molars, without the wisdom teeth crowding up against them If your teeth are otherwise in great shape, no need to do anything drastic. In my experience, if a dentist says you DON'T need work done on your teeth, you can believe it--you really don't.

Oh okay, but the dentist told me that a waterpic does not do much good though compared to floss.

I'd question this dentist then. Use both! The best hygiene plan I've always been told is to brush, floss, use a waterpic and then rinse with hydrogen peroxide/mouthwash mix. I do this every night, I get tired of it, but for too many years I ignored my teeth and now I'm paying for it.

Oh okay. I can use both but I cannot fit the floss in between my teeth though, and that is the why I am getting cavitities the dentist said. The dentist said it was because I didn't have my wisdom teeth removed before, so that makes me wonder if I should therefore.

Have you tried floss threaders i mentioned upthread?

If you are worried, seek a 2nd opinion.

I can try that but since floss threaders are such a small piece of floss it seems, will that make it less effective if the same small piece is being used over and over again, as oppose to a long string of it, where you can use more of it?

I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Bridge-Aid-Th...a-560710053577

You thread the floss into this holder (it's like a sewing needle) and then use that to get in between the teeth. Then pull up and down like you would do with floss.
