Probably depends where you live and the dentist. I had sticker shock with a bridge and cleaning.
I recommend a dental discount plan, not insurance, no copay. Pay one fee for the year and receive 20%--50% off the standard charge. I had this for 30 years now...it is still expensive. The only drawback is that this is like a HMO because you are limited to doctors in their network, depending on location. Most dentists do mnot accept it.

Thanks. That's one of the interesting things about being older( for me): I well remember when a filling cost $40-$60. So today's cost is more than a bit shocking to me...if you know what I mean.
