And except for that back one that went bad long ago my teeth are fine. I got diabetes 5 years ago no more candy. I think its diet more then anything else that wrecks teeth. I never bought soda to drink at home ever. Icecream before diabetes but I never bought soda.

Anyway, toothpaste ingredients.

Propylene glycol, sodium bicarbonate, sodium pyrophosphate, anhydrous dicalcium phosphate and dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate are all listed.

Are you sure you want to put this stuff in your mouth?

sorbitol, pentatol and glycerol... Strontium chloride and potassium nitrate.. aspartame and ammoniated iacylglycerol..... C7H5NO3S sodium saccharin...

Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate. Formula: C20H37NaO7S This is a detergent-type ingredient that causes toothpaste to foam up.

amorphous silicon dioxide !

I ingest none of this stuff and again my teeth are fine.

Do you have annual or bi-annual dentist visits? To get Xrays to see if any cavities lurking?

I use Tom's toothpaste made without chemicals.
I've read that potato chips are worse for teeth than candy, we don't drink soda but my teeth have always been prone to needing expensive work, Irish/English DNA IMO is the reason except husband is English DNA and has very strong teeth so my theory is suspect.

And I have known some people who dont brush their teeth and their teeth are falling out. You can also look at fossilized remains where they didnt brush their teeth and see that there teeth are in bad shape.

Seems you are more lucky then making some new dental discovery.

Who ever said you must use toothpaste to brush your teeth? Lots of people don't use the mass-produced commercial stuff but they still manage to remove plaque, bacteria and food particles from their teeth! Baking soda, sea salt, plain old water, coconut oil, even a dry brush will still remove quite a bit of debris from your teeth and gums. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as a diabetic don't you need to avoid infections? Oral cavity infections can be quite serious...even travelling the bloodstream and creating difficulties for your heart. Doesn't sound like a brag worthy approach to personal health or hygiene to me.

BTW, diet alone does not dictate how resistant to decay your teeth will be. Heredity plays a big part as does the amount and chemistry of your saliva (that can be altered by other health conditions, diet, medications, etc). As has been discussed in this forum ad nauseum. Lots of people do everything they can to keep their teeth to no avail.

Not to mention that even IF your teeth are fine, your gums may not be. Gum disease has been tied to cardiac issues, too.

One of my brothers-in-law has never had a cavity (and is now 57). On the other hand, he had such severe gum disease that he had to go through a course of strong antibiotics and needs to visit the dentist frequently for checks or he might lose all his cavity-free teeth.

Long ago I heard a legend that the Aleutian Eskimos never experienced tooth dacay the entire time they lived on whale blubber, but only when modern man introduced them to starchy carbohydrates. Maybe it is true.
