I'm moving to Denver, middle to end of August. I'm a 33 yr old single professional. I'm looking for an area that is safe, but has plenty of shopping, restaraunts, other singles, lol. I'll be renting a 1-2bdrm and looking to spend around $750/mo.

Also, I've found plenty of apartments on rent.com and others that have great amenities, i.e. pool, rec room, tennis courts etc, but then have read some horrible reviews of them on apartmentratings.com, which worries me. My friend and I will be making a trip in July to scope apartments and areas. From what I've read, Aurora, Littleton, Golden, and Washington Park are all places I should check out, but have no idea what they're all like.

Any advice would be great, THX!

Well, Aurora, Littleton, Golden, and Wash Park (a Denver neighborhood) are all over the map. Where are you going to be working? If you know, then that can help you narrow down places.

I don't know where I'll be working yet. I'll be putting resumes out in July, but don't have a clue where I'll end up working yet. I'm an experrienced bookkeeper for small businesses.

Well, if I were you, I'd try to pick somewhere fairly central, in that case. If you're looking for a job, you don't want to pick one corner of the metro area and then have to rule out jobs on either side.

My advice would be either Denver itself or in one of the closer-in suburbs, preferably very convenient to I-25 or possibly I-70, US 6, or US 36. Unfortunately you might want to avoid Golden or Littleton for the time being -- those are two of our very best suburbs, but neither is very central for commuting.

We just returned from Denver and I was impressed with Aurora - however for the price you want to pay in rent I did not see that availability in Denver - but did see it out in Aurora area.
