Officially had their grand opening today. For people who've been there, please comment on what you think.

I didn't go to the official grand opening but some of the larger stores have been open for months. I also have family living about a mile away so I am pretty familiar with the project. It is an upgrade over the old mall but with Park Meadows being so close by I'm not sure how it will do over the long haul. The University/Arapahoe intersection seems to be much better than before though

I live about 1/2 mile from there. I said it in a previous post, but I'll repeat here. It's really great to walk to. I can get there without taking any busy roads. It's fun to walk around - nicely manicured paths with fountains and hanging flowers. But there's not a lot of places that I would go to! I love how the library is there.

BTW - looks like Barnes and Noble isn't coming?

Others - please comment! I want to know what you think about it!

Not sure it is trying to compete with Park Meadows. The only overlapping store I see is Macys and of course Noodle & Company, Qboda, etc.

I don't really think any mall can compete with Park Meadows from shear size and surrounding footprint (Flatiron Crossing does come close). Does anybody else think it odd that the two biggest shopping district are in two of the smaller suburbs - Broomfield and Lone Tree?

There's nothing "small" about each location-- leaving aside the particular municipality each mall happens to be in. Park Meadows is right at the intersection of two major freeways, centered right in the middle of the south suburbs, also drawing a lot of traffic from Colorado Springs. Flatirons is right off US-36 in the middle of the Denver-Boulder corridor, which is one of the most rapidly growing areas of the metro area. Southglenn is in more of a local, residential area-- not really much reason for anybody to pass through there unless if they live in the nearby vicinity. I'll have to check it out one of these days and report back. Last time I saw it was when I snapped a picture of the place while it was under construction in my Arapahoe Rd photo tour.

I agree there's nothing small about each location, but I was referring to the small size of the municipality they're in. Rather than being in Denver or Aurora or Lakewood or Westminster, etc., they're in small municipalities so they're sucking in massive sales tax dollars.

Good point. Kind of reminds me a lot of *cough* Greenwood *cough* Village, and the wars they fought with Centennial over incorporation 10 years ago.

Or how Lone Tree incorporated after the mall was built and then slowly started to suck it up until it took over Park Meadows Mall a few years ago (with no benefit to anybody except the residents of Lone Tree)!

At least they don't gouge us to much on sales tax. It is 6.9125% at Park Meadows, the 2nd lowest at area malls to SW Plaza of course (and 1.5% lower than Flatiron Crossing!)

I know this will put a smile on your face, chilicheesefries. Photo tour! I am very impressed with this mixed used development. The main word that comes to mind after seeing the Streets at Southglenn is... classy. Very classy. They did a great job with this-- this blows away Belmar!
