I am moving from Seattle on Nov. 1st, and I was looking for a little help on what to look into or even what to pack. I will be there for 3 months for sure, possibly longer. I got a place near Sloan's lake and would like to do as much in the area as possible. Do I bring mountain bike or road bike, both or neither? Where is a great place to swim without a weird schedule that isn't too spendy? Hot yoga? I have a 24 hr fitness membership, and I'm not too thrilled about it, but I would like to go to a good spinning class here or there, or would drive a little ways for a 24 hr that had it all. I just want to know a few opinions from the locals on the places they like and why.. I could give some good advice for the potential Seattlites also. I'd like to meet some people who climb, ski, and do triathlons. Where are they??

bluecrew,

Sloan's lake area is a nice place to be; you will like it.

Are you planing to mountain bike? Remember that given the weather you mountain biking may be limited. To be safe, you can bring the mountain bike and just use it everywhere.

At this time you are looking at indoor pools only so your 24 hour membership will come in handy.

There is a 24 hour fitness on W. Alameda & Union; I am not sure if there is one there that is closer.

from sloan's like you can ride about 10 miles west to golden for some great road biking. There is also some decent mountain biking in the area. Don't worry about meeting other athletic, outdoorsy people here. It seems that half the people I work with are triathletes or ultra-marathon runners.
