Hello, I am visiting Denver in April for a month and was thinking about staying at the inntown suites (unless a local knows another extended stay place that is affordable). They have 2 locations but I am not sure which of the 2 areas is safest to stay while getting to know the city. Below is the addresses for the hotel locations.

2900 W. Hampden Ave.
Sheridan, CO 80110

2221 South Havana Street
Aurora, CO 80014

Which of the locations above is better overall (I have a family)? We live in San Antonio, TX and live in an area that is older but very quiet and no trouble so if the areas above are older it does not matter just worried about safety and overall feel of the area.

I looked at the website that shows statistics for the city but the crime seems to be high throughout Denver and could not make a decision with just this info. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I would NOT stay at the one on W. Hampden. Very dicey area. I'm not familiar with the location in Aurora.

The prices may be higher, but I would recommend checking the extended stay hotels that are in the Denver Tech Center near Arapahoe Road and I-25. It's a very nice area, near restaurants and shopping and near a light rail station.

I lived in an apartment near the one in Aurora and it's not a bad area -- just sort of older and suburban. Havana, Iliff, and Parker Rd are all larger/busy streets, though, so if you like to go for walks, the amount of traffic on those streets could be a concern. As far as safety is concerned, the area doesn't strike me as unsafe. In fact, I take my dogs to the animal clinic that is a block or two away from that hotel.

If you're flexible about where you'd like to stay, you might want to check out VRBO.com (Vacation Rentals by Owner). They have many longer-term rentals that are much more interesting than residence hotels.

I live close to the Havana location and am from SA. It kind of reminds me of the surrounding area of Ingram Park Mall, closer to the Grissom Rd. & Timberhill area. You'll be well situated as far as eateries go, Olive Garden, Five Guys, Caldonia's, Le Peep, and Spicy Pickle are all a reasonable walking distance. It's a pretty busy area and plenty of traffic flow, so like someone said, if you're a runner or walker, it's not the best area for that. A mile away is a Target in a shopping center as well as a King Soopers (grocery store) across the street from it.

Thank you all for the great info. Looking forward to seeing the areas and hopefully a month will be enough time to see the entire city.
